Trade Fair Review

09.10.2019

The international cleaning trade fair CMS Berlin was held from 24 to 27 September 2019 in Berlin. Around 21,000 visitors visited the fair for an overview of the latest innovative solutions in professional cleaning. In addition to strong interest in robotics, another growing trend emerged.

Wetrok’s presence at CMS Berlin certainly proved one thing: It isn’t the size of the stand that counts, but the impact of the innovation. True to the motto “Innovation made in Switzerland”, Wetrok presented their innovations with huge potential for simplifying daily cleaning routines on a modest 77-square-metre stand. Some of these innovations are so unique that they are patent-protected. When visitors to the stand tested and tried out the solutions first hand, one thing became clear: The user benefits of the many ingenious tricks and perfectly integrated features only really become apparent in practice – and all the more so for it.

Changing requirements for cleaning solutions
CMS 2019 made abundantly clear the extent to which requirements for cleaning products have changed. “Today, customers don’t just expect impeccable cleaning results – they want to know that the products are ecologically and socially viable. Certification plays a big part in that, but so do resource-friendly cleaning methods. We have found that not only ecological cleaning products, but also environmentally friendly cleaning methods are becoming increasingly important for our customers”, explains Jens Pfaff, Managing Director of Wetrok Germany.

Foam cleaning: ecologically, economically and socially sustainable
A man-sized bottle with bubbling cleaning foam at the stand drew visitors’ attention to a holistic, ecological cleaning method. Foam instead of liquid cleaning solutions? People wanted to know more!

Many visitors stopped in their tracks in front of the bottle, stuck their hands in the foam or simply took a moment to enjoy the pleasant odour emanating from it. The Wetrok representatives at the stand were on hand to explain how foam cleaning works – after all: this method isn’t just ecological, but also very simple. Fill the bottle with water, add the cleaning product according to the foam dosage measurements provided – and the foam is ready for cleaning with a microfibre cloth. Compared to conventional cleaning with a bucket and water, customers use around 90 percent less water and 30 percent less chemicals when cleaning with foam. This modern approach also offers direct benefits for users: There are no harmful, breathable spray particles in the air; there is no need to carry a bucket of water around and there is no need to waste energy wringing cloths.

Wetrok presented two products at the fair that perfect the ecological foam cleaning method:

Re-certified Wetrok EcoLine
With the biodegradable cleaning products in the Wetrok EcoLine, customers can clean entire properties from top to bottom in an ecological manner. All six products in the series are certified with both the EU and the Austrian Ecolabels. Three of the products are foamable.

Patented Wetrok Granuline
The patented Wetrok Granuline is a cleaning granulate to which users just have to add water for a powerful cleaning solution. The product comes in small, individually packaged portions: 1 sachet, 1 use. It is therefore the very first product to completely eliminate expensive and environmentally harmful over-concentrating. There is a lot of potential in granulates: A simple switch from liquid detergents to granulate reduces storage and transportation costs by up to 75 percent. Two of the three granulate products are foamable.

Two in one: Discomatic Bolero
Wetrok also introduced a new scrubber-dryer solution that is both ecologically and technologically astounding: Discomatic Bolero. This scrubber-dryer is the answer to an eternal user dilemma. Instead of having to choose between a mini machine with a low vertical clearance or a high-performance model, the Bolero offers customers a 2-in-1 solution: two tank sizes for different applications. The user simply replaces one tank with the other and the machine is transformed. A huge step forwards – both economically and ecologically!

Technological leap: Users remove the magnetic suction nozzles and click the suction lips into place. Cleaning personnel don’t have to carry any tools and changes take just a few seconds.

The principle of sustainability was also reflected in the organisation of this year’s trade fair: “This year, for the first time, we recorded the contact information of interested visitors using an app. This eliminated the use of mountains of paper and showed that we also practice sustainability internally”, explains Jens Pfaff.
